Watch the Navam Perahera & Explore Sri Lanka’s Heritage, Highlands, and Beaches

While the Kandy Perahera in August is Sri Lanka’s most renowned procession, the Navam Perahera, held in Colombo on January 31st and February 1st, is another spectacular event. Organized by Gangaramaya Temple, it features a vibrant parade of elephants, traditional dancers, drummers, torchbearers, and monks along the scenic Beira Lake. Your journey also includes visits to six UNESCO World Heritage Sites, each rich in history and culture — from Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa, to Dambulla Cave Temple, Sigiriya Rock Fortress, Kandy, and Galle. Experience the cool highlands of Nuwara Eliya (“Little London”), with its tea plantations, waterfalls, and colonial charm. Learn about Ceylon tea production at world-famous factories, and visit Peradeniya Botanical Gardens, Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, and a Sea Turtle Rescue Center.
